Frequently Asked Questions
“Every move must have a purpose.”
– Bruce Pandolfini
Can I change SCS process plans once we get started?
Of course! Our values are for client gains, above all else. Change is a great tool to use to maximize gains. It is not uncommon to adjust the initial contract plan. Agile action plans are a must and will always be a goal in our service to our customers. And as always you can cancel anytime without penalty or future costs. It is better if the client is given honest assessments, than if we receive income.
How much do your services typically cost?
One of our core values is that every customer receives more in worth than we get paid. The specific amounts vary with the desired results or interactions you need. Choosing the time based pricing methodology will allow as little as $2,500 and will increase as you utilize more services. This is a pay as you go method, so you control the amount.
The outcome based methodology is typically a commitment of 6 months or greater in time and will depend on your actual gains realized. In this method of payment, we are paid based on a small percentage of your actual business gains from our interaction. The more improvement you experience the more funds we receive. These rates are typically tied to KPI metrics, increase in sales, reduction in COGS, or efficiency time gains in production of the company. Cultural gains are priced separately based on employee engagement surveys.
How long is the process or commitment?
This is always up to you as the customer. We will have multiple recommendations of time related to projected gains in our initial review and then it is up to the business to choose which opportunities they want to focus on for specific gains desired.
Will you be my business partner?
That depends on how you define business partner! We will absolutely work alongside you to determine your best path forward. It is our goal to help you achieve your desired goals and we work with you to help reveal pathways to quick and substantial gains in areas you designate. We do not, however, partner with you in the running of your business. We are consultants and helpers, and while we don’t have actual stake in your business, we do have a vested interest in your success. But ultimately, all control and choice of the direction of your business is in your sole control.
Are there any guarantees with your services?
Positive results will occur at the same rate in which you engaged our assistance. Some gains will occur and be visible right away. Typically, production/quality metrics increase 5-12% initially and then trend up after. Some gains will show by turning a stagnant level trend into one that moves upward at a steeper path. Since we are not in control of what process changes you implement, we cannot guarantee specific results. We do know based on 20+ years of doing this work with many different companies, that there is an average of 10-18% increase in KPIs and 15-30% gains in work efficiency, while seeing reductions in employee turnover and improved employee morale and engagement.
Will the changes that you recommend be difficult to implement?
Yes and No. This will depend on your commitment to change management and the culture of any one company. Some companies get excited when they see the small quick gains and the employees go after profitability, like hungry lions chasing their prey. In those cases, it is common to see double digit gains within the first 60 days.
Other companies may be stuck in a mindset of change resistance and cling to phrases like “we have always done it this way, why do I need to do it differently?” In those cases, we work to help change the culture first and the business methods along side that change.
What results have other business owners had from your service?
While we track KPIs as our measure of how we are doing (normally gains fall between 10-18% in a 90-day period with our weekly involvement), the real gains that company CEOs and owners will often relay to us is the intangible benefit realized in culture changes and employee growth and engagement. Owners and leaders understand the high value of an engaged workforce that takes initiative to problem solve for gain and not just when the problem becomes an issue. Instilling a Continuous Improvement Mindset in your organization is the real gain. Often, they will tell us they can feel how the culture of cooperation and energy level of employees is causing gains in so many little ways across all company functions. This gain lives on long after we are gone!
How do you measure the impact of your coaching?
We measure our coaching impact by the furvent implementation of the suggestions we give. It is evident when the suggestions of a coach are owned and implemented by an athlete working to make the Olympics by the gains they make in their personal metrics. We want to see actual life change take place in the leaders and individuals we interact with overall. When people see that you truly care about them and seeing them exceed and grow, then the concepts and suggestions we give become tantalizing treats that the individual hungers for more. That is when we know our coaching is of high value.
What defining metrics and KPIs are used to measure the effectiveness of coaching?
This varies with the company and/or individual. We work with you to choose the right KPIs to measure. Typically, we focus on sales/production/quality KPIs that are in place. Sometimes we get involved with a company and we find some of what they are currently measuring is not actually ideal to motivate the desired behavior of the employee. In those cases, we help create the proper KPI to drive a truly winning behavior rather than using a metric that can be “gamed” by people or one that motivates a specific behavior that actually works against maximum gain.
What do SCS Coaches offer that others don't?
The biggest difference between us and others in our industry is customization. Many businesses sell their specific methodology and how good they are with that specific methodology for the customer. And in some cases, they are the best for those specific individuals or companies that would gain from that method.
What our experience has shown us is that not just from customer to customer but even within the same corporation, the diversity in teams, departments, leadership styles, group dynamics and process requirements often need – and we cannot stress this more – NEED customized approaches to truly maximize the potential for gains. Most good consulting firms can come into a company and, given the most common low hanging fruit, show immediate gains of 3-8%. This can be done with standard systems of Continuous Improvement Methods. What we do is look at the uniqueness of everyone in our care and customize the best method of gain for each part of the company. We do not settle for the standard 3-8%. We think you deserve more. Just as an example, we use 10 different methods of problem solving while most companies build an expertise around one and try to force that one method in all cases.
