What does that mean? What is the value of customizing?

Every corporation has its own unique personality. And when a company is large enough, each department in the company can develop a personality of its own. While working with a Fortune 100 company in the early 2000s, it was easy to see the immense diversity between departments. Talking to a VP in the finance department had to be a totally different conversation than the discussion with a VP of customer service.

The core concepts of Continuous Improvement are the same, just as a meal is a meal. We found that in some groups you have people who preferred seafood over steak, some vegans, not to mention the size of the meal needing to be customized as well. Some groups want as much as we can give, while others just want a tasting.

During that time, it became very clear that one cookie cutter methodology to deliver Continuous Improvement development would be delicious to some but tasteless to others. To make sure everyone had a good nourishing meal, we had to tailor our approach to each group.

While working internationally with many diverse groups, we developed a cafeteria style of service presentation that allowed us to create the best meal for each unique client. This way everyone got the nourishment of CI needed in a way that was tasty to their palettes. We even threw in some great desserts!
